As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, we would like to take a moment to reflect on the things we are grateful for. Congratulations to Miroslav Kuba, Assistant Manager at Peters Creek Sow Farm, on recently obtaining his US citizenship! Originally from the Czech Republic, Miroslav embarked on his journey with MFV in 2007. We're excited to celebrate this significant milestone with him

Open Enrollment in NC

Open enrollment went smoothly in North Carolina thanks to the hard work and organization of the Human Resources department!

Scorecard Winners

Each month our sow farms participate in healthy competition in an effort to reward the highest levels of productivity. This is measured in three areas, farrowing rate, pigs weaned, and conception rate/RTU. Each of the winning teams receives a catered meal of their choice.

OSHA Course about Safety in the Workplace

We're staying safe this holiday season! A group of our managers and supervisors recently took part in an OSHA course focusing on various safety topics in the workplace. Thank you to Erin Rymsa at First National Insurance for teaching us!

Celebrating Employee Anniversaries

Freddy Rodriguez - 30 years

Congratulations to Freddy Rodriguez, Manager at Dover Sow Farm, for his 30 years of service. Presenting Freddy with his award is Senior Vice President and Director of Production Mike Wyant. Freddy's supervisor and Senior Production Manager Doug Tennal said "Freddy has been meeting and overcoming challenges for most of his life. Starting with his immigration from Guatemala to becoming an American citizen. In his time with MFV, he has held an impactful role on many of the sow farms over the years. He is widely recognized as one of the best breeding technicians we have had in our Missouri operations. For the past 6 years, Freddy has met the challenge and succeeded in managing Dover Sow. We would like to take this opportunity to thank him for 30 years of dedicated service to MFV and look forward to more years to come."

Angel Martinez - 20 Years

Congratulations to Angel Martinez, farm manager at Riverfront 2 on receiving his 20-year service award. Presenting him with his award is Greg Wulf, the Director of NC Production, Dell Murphy, President and CEO, and Dave Majeski, Production Manager.

Preventing Slips, Trips, and Falls

Any time you move your feet, there is an increased risk that you may end up slipping, tripping, or falling. What can we do to prevent such events from taking place? It’s like driving a vehicle; always keep your eyes on where you are going! So, in the workplace, if we find a hazard (uneven walkways, an obstructed or messy work area, loose items left on the floor, wet or damp ramps, a lack of good mats, or any issue that could cause an accident or injury), Be sure to report these hazards immediately to your supervisor or manager.

Slips, trips, and falls constitute the majority of general industry accidents. According to OSHA, they cause 15% of all deaths and are second only to motor vehicles as a cause of fatalities. Slips, trips, and fall hazards also need to be controlled for visitors.
