Feeling Thankful at MFV

This time of year we like to reflect on what we’re thankful for. Check out what some of our employees submitted for this year’s MFV Thankful Giveaway! Congratulations to this year’s winner, Chris Davis!

Being able to work with a lot of great people in a beautiful place and doing what I love to do. These guys really put in the extra effort on Wednesday, before the rain came to get community ready for Thanksgiving! We are blessed!

-Chris Randall, River Landing Landscape

This year, I am thankful for my children and the extra time I've been able to spend with them the last couple months.

-Danni Masterson, Marshall Sow Farm

After his May 21st accident, we are thankful we still have our son with us.

-Chris Davis, Information Services

Every Thanksgiving, I go to Ohio, and I am thankful for the time I get to spend with my family. We go see Christmas lights at the zoo every year, called Wild Lights.

-Carmen Weeks, Marketing

I'm thankful for the birth of my new baby, William! He was born on May 25, 2023, and has brought so much joy, laughter, and love into my life. Myles and I are grateful that we will be able to share all of our favorite Thanksgiving and Christmas traditions with him as he grows! I shared two pictures because I think he's just so stinkin' cute:)

-Lauren Teachy, River Landing POA

I am so thankful for my cat, Baby, who keeps me company. He’s a 2-year-old Bombay, is super playful, and loves to cuddle and watch birds on YouTube. Proud cat mom! I’m also grateful for my team! They work so hard all year round and we never forget to have fun at the same time.

-Morgan Jones, Marketing

I am thankful first for the wonderful 38 years that I had to spend with my mom before her unexpected passing on November 1st. The second is that her working for Murphy's and taking care of her for almost 18 years kind of helped my brother and myself become employees for a wonderful group of people. Murphy's family showed what a work family means at her passing, and they helped in any way they could. So yes, I'm thankful, but also blessed!

-Brendle Murray, Maintenance NC

The things that I am thankful for are my life, health, and strength. I’m thankful that I’m in my right mind and am able to get up and go to work. I’m thankful for my Murphy Family Ventures for hiring me and I’m thankful for the working in a safe environment. I’m thankful for my 2 kids and very thankful for my mother.

 -Shenita Whitley, Hotel Room Operations

I’m so thankful for my children! I get to raise my children in a small town, surrounded by family and friends.  God bless the USA! (from left to right: Anna Townsend Carter, Savannah Smith, and my daughter, Angelina Cavallaro).

-Tavia Cavallaro, Information Services

I am grateful, thankful, and very blessed for my family! We enjoy spending family time together on all holidays. We love road-tripping and singing gospel bluegrass while in the car. My favorite recipe is homemade noodles.

-Brenda Ford, Maintenance MO

Why am I thankful? I am thankful for God allowing me to remain here because, after a terrible car accident, home problems, then on top of all the crazy, cancer took me by surprise during COVID of all things. That was in 2019remained when I started my fight with cancer! The first round of cancer treatment was a failure. I ended up being able to go back to work only tomorrow, and later that day I would have to go to another doctor. I was referred to UNC and given a team of doctors to work very closely with me. I then started to receive an immunotherapy treatment. The immunotherapy treatment was a success, but they wanted me to go to a stem cell transplant. The cell transplant was a suwhomI remain in the hospital for 11 days and then at the Secu House for about two weeks. I remained cancer-free for almost a year, and suddenly, on May 9, 2022,. I ended up in the hospital, which made UNC scan me. After scanning me, they found out the cancer had returned. So once again, my doctor prepared me for stem cell treatment. Once again, we ran into a problem, which made a lot of my donors not compatible. But my doctor worked hard to push me to the top of the car T Transplant. I continue to work and knew that I would go out of work somewhere between September and October. I started to prepare myself mentally and physically to once again go to treatment. I continue to work and finally left transplant. I continue to work and knew that I would go out of work somewhere between September and October. I started to prepare myself mentally and physically to once again go to treatment. I continue to work and finally left a week earlier than expected a week earlier. But I must say that I am thankful and so glad to have a great team at Murphy Family Venture‘s. I cannot thank Mrs. Kim, Miss Rhonda, and Mrs. Debbie (who I will miss greatly) for all that they have done for me. Newton Carter, whom I will miss greatly) for all who never gave up on me and kept my spot open for me, and Pack Sow Farm. That is what I am thankful for, and I owe everything to my Lord and Savior. Amen.

-Desiree Cromartie, NC Pack

Holiday Safety Tips From Mike Brown

Holidays are a time to gather and fellowship with family and friends.  We need to always remember to keep safety in mind in our holiday plans.  No matter if you are decorating, cooking, driving, or just relaxing, be sure to focus on remaining safe!

  • Plan your events ahead of schedule

  • Check all decorative electrical components to ensure they are safe

  • If you are traveling during the holidays, get plenty of rest before your trip

  • Eat plenty of food, but focus on healthy selections

  • Ensure your smoke detectors are in good working order

  • Never leave a fire, candle, or cooking unattended

  • Always shut off any decorative electrical components if you plan to leave your home
